Hey Saloners – I thought since June is now a dark and distant memory that I would remind myself what books I read during the month. The books took me on travels far and wide – from Fairie land on the other side of the Wall to Aspen, from New York our to Avonlea – and I enjoyed every minute. Looking over them now I think my favourite read was Stardust – with Anne of Green Gables coming in at a close second.

I’m trying to raise my game this month as aprt of the Book Blowout and read at least 9 books!

    I think the best place I visited in my reading was a Paris train station. The Invention of Hugo Cabret was is a visually stunning book, with a great story to boot.

    June was such a good read month for me. It’s difficult for me to decide on a favorite. I visited Afghanastan with Greg Mortenson in THREE CUPS OF TEA, which was truly inspiring. I discovered Thomas Holland with ONE DROP OF BLOOD- what a truly talented writer. And I also read SUTTER ISLAND by Dennis Lehane and DEAD CONNECTION by Alafair Burke – both top-notch reads. Looking back, I forgot how rich my June reads were. Thanks for reminding me!

    I also read Stardust and will be linking to your review at the bottom of that post here shortly…and the book Before Green Gables reminds me, I need to let my sister know about that since as a child, she loved Montgomery’s original work.

    As for my favorite book this past month, it probably was Sailing Alone Around The Room: New and Selected Poems by Billy Collins. This also reminds me I need to do a wrap-up post of the past month.

    I have had a wonderful June read and it’s difficult to pick out one that would be my favourite, it depends on where you are and what you do sometimes, doesn’t it?     Of the ones you list I read Never let me Go, a long time ago now, and thought it was a wonderful story, very sad in its own way.

    I had a pretty good reading month so it’s hard to pick a favorite but it’d probably be a toss up between In the Woods by Tana French or Glimpses of the Moon by Edith Wharton. Great books.

    Oh these books look fantastic!
    Of course I love L.M. Montgomery (did you know its their 100th anniversary this year?!).
    And I am looking forward to Jackson’s new novel…but I’ve heard its not as good as her other stuff.
    My favorite for June was Gods In Alabama (speaking of J. Jackson).
    I will have to pick up Stardust now that you’ve liked it so much!
