Aside | Mount TBR has been measured
Last weekend was spent building bedroom furniture – including two big bookcases. Our converted attic is now my dressing room come library come guest room.
I’ve spent a few hours gathering up books from all around the house – filling one bookcase with books I’ve read and want to keep (all alphabetised) and the other with my TBR… which now runs to 140 books!
As I was setting them out in alphabetical order I realised that there were quite a few chick lit books – that really aren’t my thing anymore. I think I’ll read the ones that look most interesting and add the others to my book mooch inventory. I hate to give away books I’ve never read – but better to swap them for something I really want than have them gathering dust right??
I think the moral of the story is not to stock pile books before you get a chance to read them – as by then your tastes may have changed.
The real question is – how on earth am I going to get throught these 140 books?? I can read an average of 8 a month so it will take a year and a half – and of course I’ll continue to add to it
As I was loading them onto the shelves I kept thinking – ooh I want to read that one now – oh and that one – ooh and that one. I have no idea how to tackle this. I’m tempted to read them alphabetically – feeding in one chick lit for every 2 or 3 other books – and if I see one I really don’t fancy I’ll mooch it.
What about you? How big is your TBR? When was the last time you measured it? How would you suggest I tackle mine? Oh and if you mooch – post your username in the comments so I can go check out your stash
