Diane Chamberlain has become one of my Go To authors for transatlantic flights, because I know that her books will keep me engrossed for hours. So when I was offered an Advanced Review Copy of The Midwife’s Confession just days ahead of my recent Disney World vacation I jumped at the chance!
In her latest novel Chamberlain explores the lives of two women, Tara and Emerson, and their teenage daughters as they deal with the death of their close friend Noelle. It is only after her death that Tara and Emerson come to realise just how much they didn’t know about Noelle. And as they start to delve into her past they discover that their friend the Midwife carried with her a heat-breaking secret that will have a devastating effect on all of their lives.
Told from the point of view of each of the characters, Chamberlain blends together information from Noelle’s childhood and teenage years, with the present day voices of Tara and Emerson. It’s a classic page-turner and one that you will not want to put down until you discover exactly why Noelle chose to hide her real self from her closest friends.
The Midwife’s Confession has a place on my “5 star to read again” bookshelf, alongside her other novels, and I look forward to revisiting this one.
The Midwife’s Confession – Book Giveaway

Im reading Keeper of the Light by Diane Chamberlain. SO far it is excellent! I LOVE her books!
I recommend all her books.
I haven’t read that one yet – will have to look it up. So far my favourite has been The Bay at Midnight – I think Midwife’s Confession is a close second.
Sorry…meant to reply here
The Secret Life of CeeCee Wilkes is one of my favourites. I have not yet read Bay at Midnight. The Keeper of the light was just recently re-released. It is the first book in a series of the three. The second book is called Kiss River, and the last of the series is Her Mother’s Shadow. I have the next two ready to go as soon as Im done this one. So far its another one that is very hard to put down.
It sounds like all of Diane’s books are brilliant – I’ll be loading these up onto my Kindle wishlist!
I love to read, but only recently heard of Diana Chamberlain, so I’m looking forward to reading a few of her books. Always great to discover a new (at least to me) author.
I read all different types of books and authors. Some that I’ve read in the past are books by Lisa Gardner, Linda Howard, Erica Spindler, Jodi Picoulet, Kate Braestrap, and the list goes on.
If you’re a Jodi Picoult fan then you’ll love Diane’s books Yvonne.
I love Diane’s books. In fact, I reread the lighthouse trilogy every year! I am in the midst of reading The Midwife’s Confession and am really intrigued…was fortunate enough to be at Diane’s book launch on Tuesday.
I’m going to have to go and look up the Lighthouse Trilogy if it’s good enough for an annual review! So jealous that you were at the launch.
I haven’t had much time to read recently….studying for a new job……..but i love mysteries. Kathy Reichs is the best for forensic type books.
Is Kathy the author of the books that ended up as the Bones TV series – or is that someone else entirely?
I am reading Beverly Lewis’ newest release. I’ve never read any of this author’s books, so would love to win.
I can’t wait to read The Midwife’s Confession. Diane Chamberlain is one of my favorite authors.
Hi Marilyn, she’s one of mine too
I love reading and this sounds like a great book.I would love to win a copy. I just finished The Confession by John Grisham.
I’ve never read anything by Diane Chamberlain, but I will now. That was a terrific review! I have recently started re-reading all the Aunt Dimity books by Nancy Atherton.
I am reading A Stranger’s Game by Joan Johnston, and it is really good. I would love to read The Midwife’s Confession. Please enter me. Thanks!
