Aside | Blue Archipelago Virtual Book Club to close

I’m quite sad to be making this announcement, but I’ve decided to close the doors on the Virtual Book Club that I set up this summer. Unfortunately, I just don’t have the time to spend growing the membership of the site, and though the few members we do have have contributed some great posts I feel bad that no one is reading them!
I think I’m going to concentrate on encouraging you all to participate in the comments for each book review rather than trying to send people to a forum.
I did want to give a shout out to Book Blogs though – the popularity of that social networking site has shot up recently and I encourage you all to join up if you haven’t already. I think it’s going to be a great place to hang out with other bookish types. I’m known as Mrs S over there so be sure to add me as a friend.

Thanks for the kind words guys – don’t worry Blue Archipelago is here to stay! I’ve saved all the files form the Book Club so one day if I have some spare time to devote to doing it properly i might resurrect it.
Until then be sure to post lots of comments!
Clare – It really saddens me to see this close. When I stumbled across it during the summer, I saw in your virtual book club something that had great potential. Maybe if ‘members’ like me spent a bit more time contributing to it, and helping to promote it, then it would not have forced you to make this difficult move.
As RebekahC says though, thank heavens it’s only the book club and not Blue Archipelago as a whole – I’d hate to lose that from my feed list.
Hopefully you’ll find the time and energy to revisit your virtual book club in the future, but until then keep up the great work.
