Aside | Challenge completed – Spring Reading Thing

Despite the very un summer like weather outside apparently Spring is over – well the Spring Reading challenge is anyway!
When this challenge kicked off back in March I challenged myself to read just 8 books:
- Secrets of a family album by Isla Delwar
- Good Harbour – Anita Diamant
- A quiet belief in angels – R J Ellory
- 26a Diana Evans
- Then we came to the end – Joshua Ferris
- The sea house – Esther Freud
- Through a glass darkly – Jostin Gardner
- Hester’s Story – Adele Geras
At the end of the challenge on June 19 I had actually managed 19!
- Secrets of a Family Album – Isla Dewar
- Good Harbor – Anita Diamant
- A Quiet Belief in Angels – R.J. Ellory
- 26a by Diana Evans
- Then we came to the end – Joshua Ferris – Abandoned
- The Sea House by Esther Freud
- Through a Glass, Darkly by Jostein Gaarder
- Hester’s Story by Adele Geras
- To Kill a Mockingbird – Harper Lee
- Nineteen Minutes by Jodi Picoult
- March by Geraldine Brooks
- ADMIT ONE: A Journey into Film by Emmett James
- Perfect on paper by Maria Murnane
- Maggie Again by John D. Husband
- The Goose Girl by Shannon Hale
- Dizzying Heights by Bruce Drucker
- Stardust by Neil Gaiman
- Something Borrowed by Emily Giffin
- Before Green Gables by Budge Wilson
- What if…? By Steve N. Lee
And to help with the recap I *borrowed* some questions from InkSplasher:
Did you finish all the books you had planned to read? If not, why?
I finished all but one – but managed an additional 11. I had to abandon And So We Came to the End as I just found it too dull to bother finishing it!
Do you think the challenge helped you read more? Or maybe helped you read books you otherwise wouldn’t have?
It definitely helped me finish the last one more quickly when I realised I could sneak it in inside the June 19th deadline (even though I only wrote the review today!)
What was your favourite book you read this spring?
Difficult question – I loved so many of them I think it would be a tie between Mockingbird and Goose Girl.
Least favourite?
Well I didn’t finish the Joshua Ferris so that says something right??
Did you discover any new authors or genres that you now love?
Shannon Hale – I am definitely going to be seeking out more of her books.
What did you learn about your reading habits or interests?
I learnt that I love to read on the train – having two hours of me time just to read a book is perfect – and helps to get through the TBR pile much more quickly!
Are you interested in another “Fall Into Reading” challenge this fall?
Oh yes please!
