Aside | Coraline: Neil Gaiman talks about the animated movie
Fans of Neil Gaiman’s graphic novels may be interested to hear that Coraline is being brought to the big screen through stop-motion animation.
The 2002 novella – which won Gaiman no less than three awards – tells the fantasy story of Coraline, a bored little girl who opens the door to an alternative world and finds herself trapped in the weird and wonderful.
Henry Selick – perhaps most famous for The Nightmare Before Christmas – is directing the movie and in the interview Gaiman talks about how well Selick and the animating team have brought his ideas to life.
The stop-motion animation suits this tale perfectly and I’m looking forward to watching it when it is released in March 2009.

Huh… I usually like Gaiman’s stuff, but this doesn’t seem to grab me much.

@Kim L -
I’m trying to mooch a copy but haven’t had much luck yet. I really should think about joining my local library!
Yay I’m getting this book from the library tomorrow. I’m glad they’re doing it stop motion, I think it would fit the style better.
