Ok, hands up those of you who devoured Breaking Dawn and are now looking for your next Cullen fix? Can I tempt you with the first chapter of Midnight Sun? But there’s no need to stop there – many of you have asked about the Midnight Sun Chapter 2; and you’ll be please to read that Meyer has actually released all of the Midnight Sun chapters. That’s right she has published the entire Midnight Sun draft online following a leak on the Internet!

According to Stephenie Meyer, Midnight Sun is “an exercise in character development that got wildly out of hand”.
Apparently when Meyer is faced with an editing task she prefers to procrastinate – and it was during such a time that she began to wonder what the first chapter of Twilight would have been like had she written it from Edward’s perspective.
“There is so much more to his side of the story than there is to Bella’s in that first chapter. After all, Bella only knows that an incredibly gorgeous boy is looking at her funny. Meanwhile, Edward is suffering through one of the most momentous days of his very long life! First there’s the shock and frustration of not being able to hear Bella’s thoughts, then the wild, monstrous reaction to her scent, followed by the incredible expenditure of self-control that it takes to not kill her… His side of Bella’s first day at Forks High School is a hundred times more exciting than her own.”
Meyer didn’t have time to work the idea through right away, but she couldn’t seem to get away from it – and found herself jotting down phrases in the middle of night, or in line at the post office. When she finished with her ‘real work’ she decided it was time to let Edward have his say.
“Writing chapter one, “First Sight,” from Edward’s point of view was an exciting experience; I actually had my pulse racing as I typed. When I finished, I was truly pleased with my creation. Here was the other side of the story that no one knew. Here was the truth of what Edward had been through. I felt like I knew my Edward even better, and I was sure his dialogue would be more insightful in future novels. The end. Exercise over.”
Of course life is never quite that simple and Meyer found herself wondering about Edward’s point of view on other parts of the story – what happened in Alaska, what did his side of the fateful Biology conversation look like? Before too long she had started to write Chapter 2 – in her head.
“But when a story demands to be written, there’s no way to resist. And the more I wrote, the more I became convinced that Edward deserved to have his story told.”
Meyer originally planned to write Edward’s story and post it on her website – but it became clear that Edward’s side of the story would be much longer than Bella’s. Meyer also had a notion that she would “love to have a pretty, matching, bound version of Midnight Sun to put beside Twilight on top of my desk”. That’s when she decided to write the complimentary novel to Twilight – which apparently could take a while as she has to fit writing Edward’s tale in between her ‘real work’. And because she doesn’t want to keep us all waiting Meyer has kindly shared the first chapter of Midnight Sun: Edward’s version of Bella’s first day at Forks High School.

I feel very sorry that she had to go through the leaks but i do feel that the new storyis desired and a small publishment of the first copy on the internet was need to get the hype up on the book.
i appsolutly love your books i love all lone storys but your has so much detail and its really different from other love storys. your writing really drags readers in and they never want to stop reading. or at least thats how i felt my mom had to take the book away from me to get me to stop reading.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I’m only 11..but i adore your books. i havent read the last one yet but i bet it’s good. the books are so adictive i had 2 ration myself(it didnt work). I couldnt resist the sneak peak. the 1st chapter is fab. i cant wait till it is out. my fave character is deffinately edward. maybe you could try writting from what all the cullen point of veiw to what is going on. just an idea.

I was not the kind of person who was into books! And to be honest when i first learned about twilight and how it includes vampires and other mythical creatures i was like what????? i mean like i always told my friends “ewww..why are you guys so into this book??”
so my friend forced me to read the first chapter of the book and by the time i was done i fell abseloutly inlove with it!!! You are a great writer with great ideas and i would like to thank you for insipiring me!! Now i go to book stores and buy BOOKS instead of fashion magazines!!!

your books are amazing and i read all 4 of them in probably 2-3 week time span. i read the first 12 chapters of midnight sun off of stepheniemeyer.com and i want to read the entire book, so i really hope you are planning on finishing the book. i keep browsing the internet looking for updates on it but can never find anything. i hope you are planning on finishing the book and continuing with Edwards point of view till the end, like with the twilight series. we your fans would love to read it and are anticipating some type of twilight return!
I bought twilight because all my daughters, their friends, and thier mothers had read the entire saga, I felt left out…WOW now I understand the rage. Amazing reading, clean, wonderfully descriptive love story with out all the worldliness tarnishing the emotions. Amazing writing…love the concept of writing the stories from both main characters POV wish more authors would think like this. I am an avid reader and haven’t enjoyed fiction this much in eons. While I sympathize with the authors hurt and betrayal, I do hope that she will be able to finish Midnight Sun, I read all 264 pages last night…fantasic reading and so want (need) to continue to hear and visual Edwad’s perspective. The two perspectives helps one to understand, two sides to every thing. Maybe it will in some small way help remind or even teach us (readers) to remember and consider that a relationships always have more than one perspective..and we should take care to respect and understand that. Again thank you so much for these wonderful stories, amazing talent, and I can’t wait for the priviledge to read more!!!

I couldn’t help myself to take a peak at Midnight Sun, which I only recently found out about. I greatly hope it will be finished as I knew I would be upset with myself by reading it and KNOWING it would drop off, leaving me wanting more. I don’t know if it is the authors intention but, a Midnight Sun Saga from the Cullens view would be a wonderful compliment to the Twilight Saga! The same story essentially, but from the other side. Matching each book from the Midnight Sun Saga to the Twilight Saga. It takes alot to get me interested in a book, let alone a whole series. I hope she’ll fine the time to finish!
I love Twilight. I didn’t even know Stephanie Meyer wrote Midnight sun. Then i found out, and i had to read some. I read Chapter 1 and some of chapter 2. I just can’t pull myself away from these books. I think I relate to Bella A LOT,because i was the new girl, and met this mysterious gut, and he constantly saved me from bad (non-human)people. My friends were reading the stories and i thought they went simply crazy but thats only because i NEVER read books because i am 15 but when i decided to read: i fell in love. her stories have so much detail and its an amazing twist to a romance. i have begun to write my own story and will have it published soon ( already 200 pages) stephanie really inspired me. I too hope she gets Midnight sun published, and i would very much fathom it if she could write to me.

Though I was sad when i heard that Midnight Sun had been leaked and Stephanie Meyer choose to stop writing because she did not feel alone with her thoughts i understood. I am in my mid twenty’s and i did not understand the craze about this series when the movie came out. I only watched it months after it came out on DVD. I liked it and SO MANY of my friends were reading all the books so i decided to buy all 4 books online. I have loved reading all my life and enjoy it still very much. when i began to read the books i could not put them down. i read the first book in less than 48 hours and the rest in less than 3 weeks. I love them and have faith that there will be more. I cant wait till the 2nd movie comes out. Until then i plan on reading all the books a second time. you really get lost in the fantasy and its brilliant! a true masterpiece and this saga will be read by generations to come!

I never read a book before inn my whole life, and I’m 15 now. When I first saw the Twilight movie I was totally inspired to read the book. Just to see how different it were from the movie. When I read I could sit up from 11 pm to 6am I read all the books inn 2 weeks. Now I only hope desperat for a new twilight book. Or finishing Midnight sun.
I love all four books it only took me 4 days to read them all, i hate reading but i just couldnt seem to put your books down, my fiancé wasnt very impressed as evertime he spoke to me he had to hit my arm just to get my attention. the fact thats its not a ‘normal’ vampire book is the best part!!!! Please do the 5th book i would love to read it as ive already started to read the draft which is on the internet, but ive had to take myself away form it as its starting to hurt my head and eyes.

I am also another big Twilight fan. Thanx to Stephenie that transports her readers magically to another life completely…allowing one to forget their own trials and suffering for a while. Because I also love drama and acting, the stories of the Twilight series really captivate me more and I really get drawn in by how well developed and written the characters are.
I sincerely loved the 4th book Breaking Dawn, but feel that it could be the beginning of another different , yet related journey the readers can take… namely that of Renesme and Jacob facing the hillarious (and also very complicated at times) trials of their incredibly unique relationship. It probably won’t happen, and it won’t make me less of a fan, but a girl can dream.. and love stories like that is what dreams are made of.

your books are amazing, the two books I really loved the most was twilight and breaking dawn. I liked twilight a lot because of e drama and action which made it really good, same with breaking dawn but it was a little bit sad because of her daughter almost went away with jacob it makes people want to cry, but again I love your books and i cant wait till midnight sun comes out I already read the first chapter.

WOW dude! ok i totally get ur frustration and anger and stuf cos i feel it too and im on ur side but i sorta think that maybe stephanie needs our support with the whole midnight sun thing rather than to be told that theres like a billion people out there who she doesnt even know or care about ( cos seriously dude, thats how it is) and that this enormously large bunch of crazy wierd people's self control depends on her wrighting a book cos saying that is sooo not gonna work and it will probaly make her really mad and she will think that the world is really selfish and they trying to destroy her. never the less i am total;ly on ur side i just think u should try a different tactic.

I hope Stephanie Meyer sees this. I am her biggest fan. I have tons of twilight stuff and have read all her books too many times to count. There is not a second of each day that I do not think of twilight. I am really disapointed that she did not continue writing Minight Sun. I hope that she will publish it soon though adn perhaps Edward's take on the rest of the books. Maybe we could even see the perspectives of the other Cullens too!
