You're doing good with only 140 books. If we are counting all the books that we have in the house that we haven't read yet then I bet mine is hundreds upon hundreds. And I'd love to see photos as well!

Your post prompted me to update my own TBR list and write a post also. In the post (see link below) are my thoughts on my own TBR, standing at 171 as of this afternoon, and a link to my TBR page.

Mrs. S, I can sympathize with you, but like Trish, I stopped feeling guilty long ago. Books are my vice and that is far better than smoking, drinking, gadgets, clothes, etc., as far as I'm concerned. I did make myself a goal for this year, though. I have to read at least one book each month that I bought prior to 2008. So far, I've done just that. A couple of months even saw two books from before 2008. And quite honestly, I may never completely tackle mount TBR, but it gives me great comfort to know it's there to constantly be working on! :) Happy Reading!!

Funny you should post this, as I counted my TBR for the first time yesterday, and it stood at 78, fairly modest compared to some! However another book arrived via bookmooch this morning, with more on the way...

My bookmooch bio is <a href="http://www.bookmooch.com/m/bio/bart154ce" rel="nofollow">here</a>.

My TBR pile numbers at least 300 but no more than 400. I've never felt particularly worried about it because as mentioned above I don't buy much of anything else (cd's, clothes, knick-knacks). I buy alot of books but I also find my TBR pile growing as I recieve quite a few books from family and friends throughout the year.
As for how to tackle it, I will choose books to read from it randomly depending on my whims, or if someone highly recommends a certain book. The chick-lit problem is one that came up for me earlier this year - I have about 40 un-read but I have found myself growing bored with the genre, maybe I will weed them out one of these days (lol)

Ha, you actually made me go count! Most of my TBR resides in lists and books waiting patiently at the public library, but the physical pile at home is 73. My Book Mooch stash is actually pretty small- I've been moving most of my inventory over to Paperback Swap, but you can look me up: Jeane09.

Oh dear, that is a lot of books. I've been spared a mountain, as I am too cheap to buy many books. I have more library books instead. Still, my stack is overflowing the coffee table where I have them set up.

Anyhow, it sounds like your library will look pretty cool, you should post some pics.

I used to be really concerned about my growing TBR and the sped that I read (I can do 5-6 books in a month). I have if not 300 yet very very close to it unread books in my library. This doesn't include collectable things (such as I have two complete Dickens collections, a Mark Twain collection, and a Balzac collection) or textbooks/readers that I've accumulated from school. I would get really anxious about my book buying but I can't help it. I want books all the time. I don't buy other things often (clothes, etc), so finally one day I stopped feeling bad about it. And I'll tackle it as I can...veryslowly. Please post pictures of your library when its finished!! I'd love to see.
