Book discussion questions

I mentioned in the previous post how I feared I was becoming addicted to challenges – while I’m about to set myself another one! When I decided to take part in the 50 book challenge this year it was to rediscover my love of reading – but I’m one of those people who quite often just reads a book on face value and then moves onto the next without really taking time to stop and think about why the author wrote the book in the way they did and the message they were trying to deliver. Writing a review of each book is taking me some way towards addressing that – but I’m finding that some of my reviews are actually more *descriptions* – hence the new challenge.

I’ve just trawled the internet and found 40 generic book discussion questions. From here on in every review will include the answer to at least one of those questions – hopefully I’ll work my way up to including two or three. I haven’t decided yet how to select the questions – I think some will only suit certain novels while others are more generic. Perhaps I’ll just start with number 1 and work my way through – that way I won’t find an *easy* one and keep repeating it ;0)

Feel free to use the questions in your own reviews – post a link to them in the comments so I can see your answers – any inspiration is always welcome. If you have any questions you think I should add to the list then add them to the comments too.

I agree the challenges are definitely positive things :)

Sorry about the keywords – I was having problems with tons of spam in the comments and this seemed to be the best way to stop it. I chose this particular one as it’s words rather than random letters which seems to be slightly better. If you can’t read the one offered click on that little refresh button (the two arrows to the write of the entry box) that sometimes helps.

I have found that challenges are a great way for me to stretch my reading boundaries. Don’t feel bad for getting “too addicted.”

Bleh–some of these keywords below are hard to read! :)

Book Explorations – what a great title! I’ve already started thinking about which questions will suit the book I’m reading so hopefull yit will work out!

I absolutely love this idea as a way to do book reviews. Recently I was noticing that Dewey at The Hidden Side of the Leaf ( http://deweymonster.com/ ) has been asking questions in her reviews and it got my idea that this is how I want to do reviews too. Thanks for posting these questions, I am very excited about the whole thing and I can’t wait to see how it goes for you.

I don’t like to do reviews, I like to do book explorations!
