You’ve just reached the end of a book . . . what do you do now? Savor and muse over the book? Dive right into the next one? Go take the dog for a walk, the kids to the park, before even thinking about the next book you’re going to read? What?

(Obviously, there can be more than one answer, here–a book with a cliff-hanger is going to engender different reactions than a serene, stand-alone, but you get the idea!)

When I’m reading a book it becomes like a companion – I spend some time with it each day and get to know the characters and how they think and feel – so when I’m finished with the book I have to take some time to think about what I’ve read and can’t go rushing into another book straight away. I find that odd – I mean I watch lots of tv shows and i have no problem watching different shows back – to – back and waiting a week between episodes – but I just can’t chop and change with a book – that’s why I can only read one at a time!

I also try to mix up the genres – so if I’ve just read something powerful and thought provoking I choose a nice and easy chick-lit to read next – otherwise reading would become too much of an emotional drain!
