Rating

5 stars – a delightful book that will teach young children the meaning of friendship

Description

The Rabbit and the Snowman tells the story of a group of small children who build a snowman in a
field far away in the forest. They subsequently leave and the snowman is left alone. He is not sure if he has
done something wrong for them to disappear. Maybe his carrot nose is too crooked or maybe his stick arms
are too skinny. He meets a small rabbit and they become fast friends. When the snowman suddenly
disappears as spring arrives, the rabbit is left alone. He also wonders if he has done something wrong. Maybe
his ears are too furry or his eyes are too small. The two find each other again and continue their friendship
once winter returns again.

The Book Review

This is an enchanting book about friendship and the fact that friends can come and go in life through no fault of your own.

It is beautifully illustrated and would make a perfect Christmas gift for the children in your life.

Rating

4 stars – a delightful but educational story about endangered animals

Description

A charming introduction to the world of exotic cats and endangered species.

Why did you choose to read this book?

I was lucky enough to be offered an Advanced Review Copy of this book and thought it was as good a time as any to add some children’s book reviews to Blue Archipelago

The Book Review

The Tiniest Tiger by Joanne McGonagle, is the charming tale of a little kitten who chases a butterfly all the way from her home in the Alley to the Zoo. As she realises that she is lost, she wonders if she might find a new home with one of the cats who live at the zoo.

As the kitten is directed from big cat to big cat, readers learn important information about each of these animals by way of illustrated signs; details include size, life span, litter size and status. I was quite shocked to discover that all of the big cats mentioned including tigers, lions, cheetahs and bobcats are all endangered – I can’t quite believe I didn’t know that.

Amazon suggests this book is suitable for children aged four to eight and I think it would be a wonderful story to share with your children and prompt a discussion about these beautiful animals as well as what to do should they ever find themselves lost.

I’ll be passing my copy on to my friend’s two year old son when I next see him as I’m sure he’ll enjoy it.
