Kindle 3G
Review Date: July 29, 2010
Reviewer: Robert T Sforza,
The Kindle 3G works well and downloads books very fast. I found the online Q & A most helpful and have used the kindle at the beach and and their is no sun glare. The Kindle has everything you could want and I am most pleased with the ease of operation.
WISH I HAD NEVER BOUGHT THIS KINDLE - PASS THE WORD ABOUT AMAZON
Review Date: July 29, 2010
Reviewer: Book Worm, Houston TX
Amazon now bills itself as "building the earth's most customer-centric company". Please don't believe it.
Amazon clearly does not value its Kindle customers. I ordered a $259.00 Kindle for my daughter's graduation in late May. Because the price decrease to $189.00 on July 1 happened just outside Amazon's 30 day return limit, I ended up paying an extra $70 only to have the Kindle for roughly one extra month.
I sent Amazon an email respectfully asking for a $70 credit, and all I got was an impersonal cookie-cutter email telling me no. One would think that surely Amazon could have at least offered one or two free eBooks to make things right. Unfortunately, customer service does not appear to be among Amazon's priorities. I suppose they were just after my $70.
In retrospect, what really upsets me are the email ads Amazon kept sending me for the $259.00 Kindle right up until July 1. I am so disappointed in Amazon. I feel cheated.
And now we are stuck buying my eBooks through Amazon from here on out. It is a very unpleasant thought knowing we will have to continue dealing with a company who is just after our money and cares nothing about customer loyalty.
With eReader products, it is not just about the device. It is just as much about the company and its policies. Do yourself a favor and do not repeat my mistake in trusting Amazon. Buy a Nook.
Glad I got it!!

Its easy to use, books download quickly, easy to read. I especially like the dictionary function. I reviewed other products before purchasing this and I am not sorry I went with this one. I no longer have to dust all my books!!
Kindle 2 Review (6" Display)
Review Date: July 29, 2010
Reviewer: Faye Story,
Originally I purchased the Kindle 2 for myself and downloaded a few books along with a couple of selections for my husband. To date I have not had the Kindle in my posession. As soon as he saw it, he appropriated it, and it goes with him everywhere. His middle name is Ben Kendall and the family now calls him Ben "Kindle". I will be ordering one for myself and may order the larger one just so we have one of each. With as much reading as we do, I can not tell you how much this relieves us of having to buy, store or return books and frees up so much space in the house.

Reviewer: Gail,
Best investment. Easy to use, came setup when purchased at Amazon.com with my name, and books loaded from Kindle for PC. Should have bought one sooner. Goes with me anywhere. When in a long line, I have something to read. That is when I am not demonstrating how it works. People see it and ask questions.
Kindle Wireless Reading Device 6"

I love the Kindle. It is so handy to take with me and know I will enjoy it more when I travel. It is compact and easy to carry. The only downfall (for me) is that I live near a National Forest and cannot upload (books) from here. I keep it handy and when I go into 'town' and I upload what I need and can read at my leisure. I love the font you can change and the 'read to me' choice you have.
Love it.

I had been looking at all the e book devices for some time and when the price lowered, I knew that the time was now. Easy to read in all different lightings. Big part of my vacation is relaxing while reading. Since I read rather fast, it always required me to pack multiple books and now there are all here in one light weight option. Love it.
Husband LOVES IT!
Review Date: July 29, 2010
Reviewer: Patricia Mason, Coastal NC, US
Husband loves his Kindle.
Reasons:
1. Instant downloads.
2. Prefers having books stored electronically than on the shelf where they take space and collect dust.
3. Enjoys reading the classics and older works which are usually downloadable for free.
4. Sleek, compact, one size design. Books come in various sizes.
5. Since he takes something to read everywhere he goes, Kindle with leather cover (purchased separately) protects reading material. In past, hardback or paperback books showed wear.

Reviewer: Princess,
I just love my Kindle! Having RA in my wrist makes it difficult to hold a hardcovered book, but the Kindle is just great! I, also, am able to read when I can't wear my glasses since the print font can be enlarged. It is just the best thing ever!
the kindle makes reading convenient and enviromentally friendly

Reviewer: tammy,
I've been using my Kindle for two years, and love the ease of ordering books, convenience and ability to manually read or having the book read to me(something i do on my way to work and school. I recently bought one for my sister for her birthday and she said it was the best birthday gift she ever received. Not only does the Kindle cut down on paper consumption, but it also reduces clutter while saving money.
English as a second language

Reviewer: Hideki Makishima,
I am a Japanese. English is my second language. It is very useful for people like me who are serious about learning English. So I would like to recommend it to other non-native English speaker this product if they are interested in it. The display is very comfortable to your eyes. Your eyes don't get as tired as times when you look at your computer screens.

I'm still learning how to use my Kindle but I really like how convenient it is to take it with me. The print is very easy on the eyes also. I am very happy I bought it, but even happier that I waited until the price dropped.
It's not a book!
Review Date: July 29, 2010
Reviewer: Jamie Carey,
The kindle is fine, it's features make it more than fine, but it's still not a book. You can't borrow it, nor can you lend it out. Also, you can't browse the shelves at your local used book store for an inviting cover and then purchase a $.99 book. I didn't realize that I would miss actual paper as much as I do. Another thing is that I can't throw it in my purse: it's an expensive and delicate piece of machinery; therefore, I am forced to purchase a protective cover. Most of all, though, I am EXTREMELY disappointed that Amazon does not offer a price-match warranty. I bought my Kindle for $260, and a week later the price was reduced to $180. Frustrating!

I’ve think I’ve posted in the past about my desire for an ebook reader. I already have book cases lined with books and the thought of being able to store those on my computer and access them from one electronic device really appeals. The other benefit to me is being able to travel somewhere with one device instead of four or five paperbacks. I’m deciding between the Amazon Kindle, the iRiver Story and the Sony Reader Touch. In case you are also in the market for an ereader I thought I’d share my research – starting with the Kindle.
Amazon Kindle – Latest Generation
The Kindle Wireless Reading Device is one of the biggest success stories in the world of portable gadgets. Provided by Amazon, the online store, Kindle has seen massive success since it launched, and is now available in International and DX versions.
Features of the Kindle Wireless Reading Device
* 8 x 5.3 x 0.36 inches in size,
* Storage for up to 1,500 books,
* Global wireless coverage,
* Supports a wide range of formats including Kindle format, PDF, Audible, MP3, Mobi and more,
* 6 inch display with paper-like e-Ink technology,
* Wireless access to the Kindle store for fast and easy download of books,
* Stereo jack for audio capabilities,
* 5-way controller for simple navigation.
Pros of the Kindle Wireless Reading Device
The Kindle International, the latest version in its line, is a lot slimmer and better looking than the original Kindle, but similar to the Kindle 2. The are so many advantages to using a Kindle over traditional books, including the fact that you can carry 1,500 books around with you wherever you go – yet the Kindle itself is smaller and lighter than your traditional paperback.
The Kindle is also unique in that it is linked directly to the Kindle Amazon store. From within the Kindle itself, no matter where you are, you can purchase and download new books, as well as magazines, newspapers and blogs, within minutes. This is what helps to set the Kindle apart from its eBook reader rivals. Of course if you’re an impulse buyer this could also be a disadvantage as it’s all too easy to get your hands on the latest book!
A great advantage of the newest Kindle model is that its wireless network extends across many countries in the world, making Kindle a real rival to eBook reader models targeted at markets outside of the US.
For those who need to take notes, there is also a built in keyboard alongside the easy-to-use navigation. The font size is adjustable, and you can even have the text read aloud with the Kindle International’s Text-to-Speech feature.
Cons of the Kindle Wireless Reading Device
Some of the main drawbacks of the Kindle Wireless Reading Device are the same as you would find with any eBook reader: it doesn’t quite feel the same as a book, its e-Ink screen means pages don’t turn instantly, and eBooks aren’t much cheaper than buying books in their physical form – in fact some are more expensive!
Some drawbacks of this model itself include the fact that the memory can’t be expanded as there is no memory slot. There is also no compatibility with ePub format which is becoming standard for a number of eBooks on loan from libraries, for example.
Conclusion
The Kindle International is much like its earlier versions, so if you live in the US and already own a Kindle 2 it’s not worth an upgrade. However, for those who have never owned an eBook reader before – or live outside of the US like me – it isn’t too hard to see why the Kindle Wireless Reading Device remains Amazon’s bestselling gadget. It’s sleek, cool and does the job well.
