I LOVED this book, but in general I love Neil Gaiman I have not seen the graphic novel, I shall have to be on the look out!

I haven't read Coraline, but my boyfriend is an artist in the Comic book industry (works for DC). I loved Maus and Blankets and The Plain Janes (meant for teenage girls to read). One thing that I’ve noticed about graphic novels is that those adapted from books always seem to fall short of those that were originally designed to be graphic novels.

I read the original version of Coraline – and it was fantastic.

If you want to try a completely different type of graphic novel, I would recommend Maus to Art Spiegelman or Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi.
