Sunday Salon | Egg in a cup

I know I’ve already posted today – but I just finished a chapter of Secrets of a Family Album that was so true to life that I wanted to share it – the canny knack people have when you are trying to tell them some important news or gossip of just hearing what they want to….

In the chapter, Mattie (the mother) discovers that her daughter has been having an illicit affair.

She goes home bursting with the news and days to her husband and Grandpa that she has just been around to her daughter’s house and found a half-naked man in her kitchen making egg in a cup.

The news is lost on the men – who turn to each other and say “egg in a cup – haven’t had that for years – you get the eggs, and I’ll do the toast soldiers”.

So Mattie calls her other daughter to share the news – and Lily’s first reaction is “Egg in a cup – you used to make that when I was a kid – haven’t had it for years”.

And my reaction? I went to the fridge to see if we had any eggs ;0)
